Macon County’s Day of Hope will be September 30th from 10-5pm at the Macon County Fair Grounds. Proceeds benefit Sherry’s Run & our neighbors fighting cancer. 10x12 booth space is still available for $50; contact Debbie Mason for more information at 615-666-6448.

Macon County is now accepting applications for a part time Veterans Service Officer. Applications can be picked up at the Macon Co. Mayor’s Office & will be accepted until October 11th at 10am.


The Macon County Singing Convention will meet, Saturday at 6pm at The Maple Grove #2 Missionary Baptist Church.

The Macon County Historical Society presents The 1st Annual History in the Park, Saturday from 4-8pm at Key Park. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.


The Mt. Hermon Community Center will have a Dance, Saturday featuring Blue Diamond. Doors open at 6pm and the dance starts at 7pm.


The Primitive Quartet will appear in the Auditorium of Macon County Junior High, Saturday at 7pm, doors open at 5:30pm. Admission is free; a love offering will be taken at the door.

The Macon County Planning Commission will meet tonight at 6pm in the UCHRA Building. The public is invited to attend.

Fairlane Elementary will host a Scholastic Book Fair, Sept 25 thru Sept 29th, the 25th, 26th and 28th hours will be 8-3:15pm and the 27th hours are 8-6pm in conjunction with parent teacher conferences and the 29th will be from 8-12.


Grandparent’s Day for the 1st Grade and Life Skills classes at Fairlane Elementary will be, Sept. 25th, 26th and 28th from 8:30-10am each day. Teachers have sent notes home with times and events for these days. Due to crowding concerns, Pre-K and Kindergarten classes will have Grandparents Day activities in the Spring.


Local Photographers are invited to enter their work in the 9th Annual “Art in Real Life” photo show sponsored by the Macon County Arts Council and hosted by Citizens Bank, October 5th thru 11th. To receive an entry form call Pat Bailey at 615-666-3995, forms must be returned by September 23rd.


The Autumn Book Sale is in progress at the Macon County Library.
